Everything you need to know about building an offshore team in the Philippines, from how EOR and contractor structures work to compliance, timeframes and getting started.
The basics of how offshore staffing with Impulsum works.
We help Australian businesses build offshore teams in the Philippines, end to end. That means recruiting the right people, employing them compliantly through a contractor or Employer of Record (EOR) structure, and then managing payroll, HR and performance so your team stays supported and productive over the long term.
Freelance marketplaces connect you with individuals and then step back. We operate through a registered Philippine entity and stay involved after placement, handling compliant employment, payroll, HR and ongoing management, so you're not left to navigate offshore employment on your own.
It starts with a discovery call, where we understand your needs and map out the right approach. From there, many placements can be completed within one to three weeks, depending on role complexity, seniority, candidate availability and notice periods.
We recruit across accounting and insolvency, construction and engineering, executive and administrative support, marketing and creative, and operations and HR, professional roles, not just general admin. If you're not sure whether we can support a role, just ask.
How offshore staff are employed, and how compliance is handled.
A contractor arrangement is a flexible agreement suited to project-based or lower-commitment work. An Employer of Record (EOR) means your staff member is formally employed through our registered Philippine entity, with payroll, statutory contributions, leave and HR managed for you. EOR carries the lowest compliance risk and suits long-term, full-time roles.
Under our EOR structure, Impulsum's registered Philippine entity is the legal employer. Your business directs the day-to-day work and working relationship, while we hold the formal employment, contracts and compliance obligations.
No. You don't need to set up or register a local entity, we already have one. This lets you engage compliant offshore staff without the cost, time and overhead of establishing your own presence in the Philippines.
Under the EOR structure, statutory contributions such as SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG are managed by Impulsum as part of the EOR employment structure, so nothing is left informal or unpaid.
Yes. Many businesses start with a contractor arrangement to test a role, then move to EOR as it becomes long-term. We'll help you transition the structure when the time is right.
What it's like to work with your offshore team day-to-day.
Yes. Your offshore team members work aligned to your business hours and working style, so they're available when you need them and integrate directly into your day-to-day operations.
You direct the day-to-day work just as you would with any team member, using your own tools and systems. Alongside that, we provide oversight, check-ins and performance management, so you're supported rather than left to manage everything alone.
We run structured onboarding to get your new team member set up in your systems and workflows, with support from our side. This gives people clarity and confidence from day one, which is a big part of why offshore placements succeed.
Because we stay involved after placement, we pick up on issues early and work to resolve them. If a role genuinely isn't the right fit, we'll work with you on next steps, including finding a replacement. We'll walk you through exactly how this works on your discovery call.
How pricing and commitment typically work.
Cost depends on the role, seniority, experience required and the engagement structure you choose. Rather than a one-size-fits-all price, we'll give you a clear, tailored quote based on your specific needs, worked through on your discovery call.
This depends on the structure. Contractor arrangements are more flexible and lower-commitment, while EOR suits ongoing, long-term roles. We'll recommend the option that best fits your situation and be clear about any terms upfront.
Our role is to handle recruitment, compliant employment, payroll, HR and ongoing management, so those elements are built into how we work with you. We'll set out exactly what's included for your specific engagement so there are no surprises.
